From your Hotel or the Airport, drive northerly along the Crocker Range to The Kinabalu National Park – Malaysia’s 1st World Heritage site. The Kinabalu National Park was gazetted in 1964 with an area of 754sq km and is dubbed as a botanical paradise. Home to half of the world’s flowering plants species it is also famed for the Majestic Mt. Kinabalu (4,095m) – The highest mountain in South East Asia. On arrival, experience the cool fresh air and the natural ambience of the Park & proceed to Park Headquarter for registration and meet up with your Mountain Guide at the reception. After the briefing, commence your journey to Timpohon Gate and then you will start your trek to Laban Rata which will take approximately 4-5 hours depending on individual fitness levels. Have your packed lunch around noon. The trekking will take you through different vegetation zones from Oak and Chestnut to mossy forest and eventually to alpine type of vegetation, before arriving at Laban Rata Resthouse (3,353m). Overnight Check-in to Laban Rata Resthouse (Heated – Dormitory Bed Room) and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure to explore the surroundings or simply soak in the scenery spread beneath you.
