For excursions beyond Penang, take a trip to the mainland to venture into the unspoiled northern region of Peninsular Malaysia, which is filled with interesting discoveries and archaeological sites. Among the highlights of the tour are Kuala Muda, Sungai Merbok and Bujang Valley.

Kuala Muda : Witness the old traditional way of trading where the fisherman will display his catch on the floor where interested buyers will whisper a price to the seller as a form of bidding. The catch will be sold to the highest bidder.

Sungai Merbok : The Sungai Merbok mangrove forest is home to approximately 30 species of true mangroves.

Bujang Valley : Bujang Valley is hailed as the most significant archeological site in Malaysia. Bujang Valley Archaeological Museum also displays artifacts including pottery shards, ceramics and stoneware which date back 1,500 years.

The most well known exhibit is the Candi ancient tomb temple that was built in the 17th century. There are also statues of Indian deities similar to those uncovered of historical sites in India as well as numerous other artifacts of Hindu-Buddhist Kingdom dating back to the 4th century.
